The Fat Lad

Now then, welcome to my first offical blog!! Sure we all have Twitter (@BobMuirhead) and Facebook but what is more personal than your very own blog?!

As you can probably guess from the title I will mainly be sharing my training with you. From swimming and running to team sports I participate in. There will be plans & goals, training reviews as well as my two penneth on the kit I am using.

Since I was a lad I have always seen weekends as 'Sport Day' from Rugby at school to Cricket for my local side Saturdays have never been without a contest.....until recently

My local cricket side folded in June 2012 and the rugby season of the same year was fairly dismal too. In between the two I had started lifting weights, boxing and running on the treadmill to keep myself amused, but lets face it there is only so much of your own garden you can stare at!

So March 2013 rolls around I go mental and splash some cash on some lovely Brooks Trance 10 runners - a decent pair of shoes to combat the ankle, knee & back issues I had collected over the years at rugby! To the streets and river trails I take with no objective than just having a bit of a run & loose some weight to help the motorcycle racing I have also recently undertaken. As any sportsman will tell you the competitiveness never leaves you and that brings us to the present.

2 good friends of mine recently completed  The Outlaw Ironman and whilst I am not (nor will ever be!) fit enough to even contemplate such madness it spurred me on to set some objectives. I feel I should also mention the girlfriend is also a runner and has too set herself some objectives - like I say the competitiveness never leaves you!!

So as I already said this blog will chronicle my journey towards the several goals I have set (subject to change & addition) as well as any and all events I participate in.

Thanks for looking and happy reading!!
